Seminar on Advancement in Wet Processing Sector Series 2013
A Seminar on Advancement in Wet Processing Sector Series 2013 was organized on 7th November 2013 by the Textile Industry Division in collaboration with NED University Karachi through EDPIU Project. This programme is designed to provide knowledge about latest issues and challenges faced by the textile wet processing sector with especial emphasis on Reach & CPSIA regulations for the export market. The seminar was attended by a large number of Industry and academia persons.
Dr. Salma Farooq( professor NED, Universty )is addressing.
Dr. Salma Farooq( professor NED, PhD in dyes a& coloration) highlighted the use of Waterless Dyeing, Plasma Technology, digital textile printing and biotechnology.
Mr. Naeem Minhas (Deputy Manager Operations, SGS Laboratories) delivered a presentation on Reach (Regulation, Evaluation, Authorization and Restrictions of Chemicals) & CPSIA (Consumer, Product Safety Improvement Act). These are the standards to regulate chemicals substances used in specific textile products. While Reach addresses the production and use of chemical substances and their potential impact on both human health and environment, CPSIA ensures the safety of consumer products especially designed for children.

At the end of the seminar, Mr. Rauf siddique, Textile Commissioner, TCO, distributed certificates among the participants. Through this series of seminars, the Textile Industry Division aims to fulfill the Textiles Policy agenda of growth of exports and human resource development through awareness of advancement and innovation in export oriented sectors of Textile Industry.
