Dinner Hosted by Pakistan Business Council, Dubai, United Arab Emirates


Pakistan Business Council (PBC) is an apex trade body of expatriate Pakistani entrepreneurs’ in Dubai, UAE working under the patronage of the Dubai



Chamber of Commerce and Industry. PBC has some 335 active members from different services sectors and industry sectors.

Mr. Mumtaz Muslim, President of the PBC hosted a dinner in honor of the Federal Minister for Commerce and Textile, H. E Maqbool H H Rahimtoola and

Pakistani delegation members.

In his welcome remarks, the President of the PBC welcomed the Minister and the other delegation members and highlighted various trade and networking

activities of the PBC Dubai. The President hoped that the ensuing General Election scheduled on May 11, 2013 will pave for a stable, secure and democratic

Pakistan with Good Governance and business friendly policies.

Minister thanked for hosting the dinner providing an opportunity to connect Pakistani expatriate businessmen and entrepreneurs. He thanked the PBC members

for their support to Pakistan, as UAE now is the third largest investor in Pakistan, with remittances of US$ 2.84 Billion and trade of US$ 9.96 Billion which

has all to their credit. Pakistan is proud of its nationals working abroad.

Chairman, BOI Sindh also gave speech to invite Pakistani expatriates to invest in Pakistan’s energy, education and industrial sectors to develop our country. He

highlighted the need to “give back and invest in Pakistan”.

Pakistani expatriates complained about poor law and order situation, bad governance and corruption prevalent in Pakistan. They hoped that with new democratic

government, the country could be steered out of these problems. They also highlighted their right to vote.

Pakistani expatriates also complained congestion in the Consulate due to insufficient office space especially visitors’ waiting area and passport

office. They recommended the need of better projection of the commercial side of Pakistan in Dubai. Also they complained about long wait

time for getting new passports from Pakistan. They asked the Minister to take-up the matter for upgrading office space facilities and quick

processing of the passports with Islamabad.

The dinner meeting ended with a vote of thanks by the Vice President PBC.
