Importance of Global Textile Standards & Compliance Requirements

MINTEX, arranged a Seminar on Global Textile Standards in PULahore

LAHORE: (Friday,April 06, 2012): Ministry of Textile Industry, incollaboration with Punjab University Textile Department, Textile TestingInternational (TTI) and University of Management & Technology (UMT)conducted a short course on “Importance of Global Textile Standards &Compliance Requirements”. The course was attended by large number of peoplefrom textile industry in the middle management & senior managementpositions linked with textile standards & compliance.


The speakers,including TTI CEO Mr Hamid Lateef, Senior Manager Ali Ashraf, DirectorInstitute of Textile & Industrial Sciences UMT Dr Nabeel Amin focused ontextile testing and its compliance with international standards. Theparticipants highly appreciated the standard of presentation and there was goodinteraction of audience with the speakers. One Global Textile Standard wasdefined as following;

“Since its introduction in 2006 theGlobal Organic Textile Standard has already demonstrated its practicalfeasibility. Supported by the growth in consumption of organic fibres and bythe remarkable demand for unified processing criteria from the industry and retailsector it has gained universal recognition, enabling processors andmanufacturers to supply their organic textiles with one certification acceptedin all major markets. With the introduction of the logo and labelling systemthe GOTS has already visually entered not only the shelves of natural textileshops but also of the largest retailers and brand dealers. This is a milestonein consumer recognition and a strong acknowledgement of this reliable qualityassurance concept”.

                 Mr Awais Mazhar,Chairman Garment City Lahore & CEO Angora Textile limited, on behalf ofMINTEX, addressed the participant and distributed certificates among them. Heappreciated the role of MINTEX in the development of Textile sector inPakistan. Participants were pleased to attend the program and requested toarrange more programs to increase their knowledge and skills to perform theirjob more efficiently.
