FIRST BUSINESS E-PORTAL LAUNCHED

The Ministry of Textile Industry achieved another landmark by launching first business E- portal. Specialized online business tools as product and company profile creation, product marketing, product selling; business exchanges will facilitate business at national and global level. The e-portal can be reached at www.paktextiles.biz . Research, innovation and technology define future. The launch of E-portal is going to facilitate textile business community and it clearly highlights government’s commitment towards business facilitation. This was stated by Federal Minister for Textile Industry Abbas Khan Afridi while inaugurating first ever business E- portal at textile summit. Textile summit was aimed at bringing all the stakeholders including government, leading  textile companies, textile organizations, international buyers together to streamline the future of Pakistani textile sector.

The Federal Minister reiterated the need to fully utilize the potentials of all related sectors of Textile industry with joint efforts from Government and Business stakeholders. Aimed at reviewing the growth of Textile industry and securing its prospective share in the global market, the minister stressed on the need to formulate a comprehensive long term policy to explore, enhance and positively exploit the potential of Value Addition Currently Pakistan’s major export from the industry consists of raw material. Inclusion of Value Added Products for exports will not only expand the scope of industry but it will also increase manifold the exports revenue for the country. Mr. Minister highlighted the importance of complete cotton chain available in the country and referred to it as white gold. Mr. Minister encouraged meaningful and productive participation by all the stakeholders of the textile industry in the policy making so that it can be made fully effective to serve the purpose.

            The summit was also addressed by EU Head of Delegation, Mr.Lars Gunnar Wigemark. He highlighted the immense potential of Pakistan’s Textile industry and stressed the need to address the hampering issues like energy crisis and lack of vocational training. Secretary Textile Industry Ms. Rukhsana Shah also addressed the gathering and detailed the prospective potential inherent in the industry. Governor Punjab Ch Sarwar , Dutch amdassador, country director ILO also graced the occasion. Prominent Textile industrialists also briefed the gathering about their products, growth and problems and hoped that joint efforts would make the industry flourish.
