US CONSULATE GENERAL CALLS ON THE FEDERAL MINISTER FOR TEXTILE INDUSTRY ABBAS KHAN AFRIDI

US Consulate General Peshawar Jon Danilowicz called on the Federal Minister for Textile Industry Mr Abbas Khan Afridi and conveyed warm greetings and wishes of the American leadership. He was accompained by political officer US Embassy Ms Sarah Longbrake .
The Federal Minister emphasized that only socio-political solution can bring peace and prosperity in FATA. The minister added that a lot needs to be done in health, education, infrastructure development and employment generation in order to secure the FATA youth from menace of terrorism.
The Minister stressed that a long term strategy is essential to restore peace and normalcy in FATA. Pakistan and Afghanistan need to work on equal footings in order to uproot these agents of terror permanantly.
The Minister appreciated the US cooperation in infrastructure development in FATA and stressed that a well-devised strategy with strong focus on PAK-US partnership and accountability can only serve the cause. The Minister reiterated that joint ventures with tribal locals can only guarantee peace and stability in the volatile FATA.
The Consulate General acknowledged the Minister’s unique perspective as a tribal, businessman and a seasoned politician. Issues pertaining to women empowerment, law and order , rehabilitation of IDPs, enhanced cross-border collaboration, legal reforms in FATA, economy and development were discussed in detail.
In the meeting, both sides expressed their strong desire to expand cordial relationships , broaden development assistance, encourage people to people contact and strengthen mutual partnership. Both sides vowed to work in collaboration and US Consulate General offered the services for the reconstruction of FATA after completion of military operation.
