MINISTER ADDRESSES ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF ALL PAKISTAN TEXTILE PROCESSING MILLS ASSOCIATION

The Federal Minister for Textile Industry Abbas Khan Afridi while talking to media after attending the annual general meeting of All Pakistan Textile Processing Mills Association announced that the new textile policy would be unveiled after eid. The new textile policy entails benefits and employment opportunities for this export oriented sector. The Minister added that textile package announced in the current budget highlights government’s commitment towards textile industry.
The Minister stressed the need for finding solutions for existing problems as a nation setting aside personal interests,, citing that adhoc policies would not work to settle down the issues, that need long term planning.
Earlier at the meeting, the Federal Minister assured that the gas supply to Punjab based industry would not be suspended during winter to avoid any layoffs of industrial labour. The Minister stated that the government is working on the import of Liquefied Natural Gas, which would be available to CNG stations in 2015. The Federal Minister added that 56 companies had already made investment in the oil and gas exploration sector that would help to tackle the energy crisis.
Responding to a question, the Minister said that the sit-ins were political right of the parties but these should not affect the country’s economy and image.
