MINISTER PRESIDES OVER 82ND MEETING OF PAKISTAN CENTRAL COTTON COMMITTEE

The 82nd meeting of the Pakistan Central Cotton Committee was held under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for Textile Industry Mr Abbas Khan Afridi. The meeting was attended by the Federal Secretary MINTEX, Vice President PCCC, chairman APTMA, chairman PCGA and representatives of KCA, PARC , provincial governments of Punjab and Sindh.

In the meeting it was decided to shift PCCC headquarters to Multan for the time being with immediate effect. The decision will be reviewed after two years .After thorough consideration and discussion, current year budget 2014-15 was approved and further meeting of secretary MINTEX, VP PCCC, chairman APTMA, chairman KCA and chairman PCCC was agreedupon. Decisions pertaining to the audit of last year’s expenditure were taken and immediate selection of CEO was urged.

Director Cess gave a presentation on the new computerized system of cess collection. It highlighted that the new system of cess collection would facilitate the cess payers as well as enhance the transparency in the cess collection process.

Dr Khalid Abdullah made a presentation regarding PCCC scientific efforts towards improvement in cotton crop production and quality. Variation in cotton yield and factors affecting production was discussed supplemented with a comparative analysis.
