NETHERLANDS TO ORGANIZE TEXTILE CONFERENCE IN ISLAMABAD
Ambassador of the Netherlands to Pakistan H.E Marcel de Vink called on the Federal Minister for Textile Industry Mr. Abbas Khan Afridi. He stated that Pakistan is a valuable trade partner for Netherlands. The Federal Minister stated that the textile industry constitutes an important sector of economy of Pakistan. He assured the ambassador that Netherlands is held in high esteem by the people of Pakistan. Every possible support will be extended to assure and strengthen trade ties between the two friendly countries.
The ambassador was also accompanied by Mr. Fransesco Davidio, Country Director of ILO (International Labour Organization) in Pakistan. Mr. Davidio apprised the minister that the ILO was keen to work in Pakistan for development and implementation of compliance standards.
The ambassador informed the Minister that the Netherlands Minister for Trade and Development would be visiting Pakistan, and on that occasion, the embassy and the ILO would be organizing a Round Table Conference in Islamabad with stakeholders on “The Pakistani Textile Sector in the International Arena”. He requested the Minister of Textile Industry to participate in the Conference as Chief Guest. The structure of the Conference was discussed in detail, and the Minister consented to attend the Conference as Chief Guest.
